Penllyn Village's annual scarecrow hunt is set to return this September, for the fourth year in a row.
Last year's event raised £650 for the village, the highest amount since it began, and the organisers hope this year's hunt, set between Penllyn and Craig, continues the success.
"It started off with probably about 20 of scarecrows between the two villages, but last year we had between 40 and 50 entries," explained Karen Cahn, one of the organisers.
"We have new families move into the village and older families leave, so it's a good way for people to get together.
"It ends up with quite a lot of people at one pub or another just talking, which is lovely, because people don't always get that opportunity to meet very easily.
"Especially last year, with lockdown, we were really undecided about whether to go ahead, but we raised double what we did the year before that!"
Participants can purchase tickets from Winchfield Tennis Courts. Various creative and hilarious scarecrows along the route hold poem clues for children to find and the completion of the 'scarecrow poem' results in a prize for every child.
There is also the opportunity to vote for the best scarecrow and prizes will be given for those as well.
"There's a little gift for the children at the end, and over the years, various different organizations in the area have donated prizes for the Scarecrow winner," said Karen.
