1965

From a newspaper article dated Friday 19 November 1965:

"At Cowbridge the service at the cenotaph was attended by the Mayor and Corporation of the town, together with representatives of organisations and the general public.

"The service was conducted by the Rev S. F. Mogford, Vicar of Llanblethian with Cowbridge, who was assisted by the Rev Keith Jones, Pastor of Ramoth Baptist Church, Cowbridge.

"After the observance of the two minutes' silence, wreaths of poppies were laid at the foot of the Cenotaph, the first being laid by the Mayor of Cowbridge, Coun. Glyn McNeil, J.P., on behalf of the Town and the Chairman of the Cowbridge R.D. Council (Coun. A.J Vincent J.P) on behalf of the Rural District.

"The parade, marshalled by Inspector Gwyn Jones, included representatives of the R.A.F, Police, Fire Service, the British Legions (men's and women's setions), with their standards, the Girl Guides, Red Cross, and Boys Brigade.

"The marchers made their way to the Church of the Holy Cross where the service was conducted by Rev. Mogford, assisted by the Rev. Jones and the Curate of Cowbridge, the Rev. A. K. Jenkins. The lesson was read by the headmaster of Cowbridge Grammar School, Mr Idwal Rees."

2000

The Remembrance Day service in Cowbridge occurred on Sunday 12 November 2000. The Mayor was Councillor Geoffrey Cox, who now sits on the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

2003

On Sunday 9 November 2003, Cowbridge gathered at the Cenotaph for Remembrance Sunday. Pictured is Reverend Norman Williams, and Jeff Alden laying a wreath on the cenotaph for Cowbridge History Society.

2020

A limited service due to Covid restrictions, but residents still came to pay their respects.

There were prayers, The Last Post, poppy wreaths laid and silence in memory of those who lost their lives.

Poppies were also placed throughout Cowbridge, each on remembering a soldier's sacrifice.
