Still dreaming of a white Christmas in Cowbridge?

In spite of what the cards and the songs may suggest, we all know white Christmases to be a rarity in the UK.

The last time Wales experienced any notable snowfall was in 2010, but 2020 has us all dreaming of a magical end to this frankly horrendous year.

Unfortunately, all hopes have now been formally dashed.

While some remote regions of Scotland may be sleeted upon on Christmas Eve, the Met Office can confirm that there will likely be no snowfall on Christmas Day nationwide.

The Met Office said: "The Dickensian scene of widespread snow lying on the ground on Christmas Day is [rare].

"White Christmases were more frequent in the 18th and 19th centuries, even more so before the change of calendar in 1752 which effectively brought Christmas Day back by 12 days.

"Climate change has also brought higher average temperatures over land and sea and this generally reduced the chances of a white Christmas."

But thankfully for Cowbridge, the 25th is due to be a less drizzly day than we've grown accustomed to over the last fortnight.

Temperatures are forecast to peak at a crisp six degrees celsius and the sun will intermittently appear from behind the clouds.
