Cowbridge Country Market is set to resume this week, almost 18 months since it last opened.

Held every fortnight on Friday from 9.30am-11.30am in the Lesser Hall at the Town Hall, the market hosts a range of local producers.

The co-operative of local producers provide high quality, value for money baked goods, preserves, plants, fresh produce, eggs, breads and craft items.

But due to the pandemic, the market has not been held since April 2020.

Shena Sarjeant, one of the organisers, is thrilled to welcome patrons back to the market after such a long period of time.

"Everything is homemade or grown, from baked goods, to preserves, to vegetables," she said.

"We've had a week to get this ready, so we have some craft but not as much as usual.

"And obviously we're conforming to all the rules and regulations.

"We're all geared up and we've got everything ready to go!"

Cowbridge Country Market started as the WI Market in July 1967.

Country Markets Ltd was formed in 1995 to operate as the business arm of the WI, and since then the old "WI Markets" have been rebranded, forming the market we know today.

During lockdown, Cowbridge Country Market attended the Cowbridge Farmers' Market in Arthur John's car park on alternate Saturdays every month.
