Sylvia Williams Chemist is offering a walk-in flu clinic this week.

On Wednesday and Thursday, from 9:30am-1pm and 2pm-5pm, the high street pharmacy is offering flu vaccines to all aged 18 and over, whether they use private or NHS healthcare.

The vaccines are free to those over 50 years old and under 50 with certain health conditions.

Offered every year on the NHS, the flu vaccine helps protect people at risk of getting seriously ill from flu.

The best time to have the flu vaccine is in the autumn or early winter before flu starts spreading, but you can get the vaccine later.

The NHS is encouraging flu vaccinations because more people are likely to get flu this winter as fewer people will have built up natural immunity to it during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Research also shows that if you get flu and COVID-19 at the same time you're more likely to be seriously ill.

If you have had COVID-19, it is safe to have the flu vaccine. It will still be effective at helping to prevent flu.
