The Physic Garden has not been permitted to reopen following the latest Welsh Government review of Coronavirus restrictions.

Chair of the Physic Garden marketing group Martyn Hurst confirmed that the garden will remain shut until late April at least.

"We've had a lot of correspondence with the Vale and we were told even as late as this morning and even after appealing that we could possibly reopen, but no, we will have to wait until the 22 April government review," he said.

"So at the moment, the garden is sadly still locked down."

The announcement on Thursday confirmed that there will be a limited opening of outdoor areas of some historic places and gardens as restrictions ease.

Mr Hurst explained that the garden is considered a visitor attraction rather than a thoroughfare like the Old Hall Gardens, which is why it cannot reopen just yet.
