12-year-old Cai Floyd has spin cycled the distance between his home in Cowbridge and the Nightingale Hospital in London, a total of 172 miles (276k), over three days raising funds for the Cardiff and Vale Health Charity.

Usually, Cai attends Cowbridge Comprehensive school but the lockdown means he is at home and wanted to find a way to support our local NHS services and the staff during COVID-19.

He started the challenge on the 29th of April and today was his final session. He has already raised £1270 with the original goal of £500.

Cai was inspired by Gareth Bale who donated half a million pounds to the same charity.

Although a little sore and tired, Cai said: ''I really wanted to do something positive during lockdown, my Mum and Gran have worked all their careers in the NHS and I wanted to be able to show how much I appreciate the NHS, especially during this difficult time.''

If you would like to sponsor Cai and raise funds for the NHS during their battle against coronavirus you can find his Go Fund Me page here.

The money will help raise vital funds for items like iPads so that patients can communicate with their loved ones, meals for staff working long hours in really difficult conditions, toiletries and clothing for patients who are in the hospital without the presence of their families, due to Covid 19
