Combined operation to make area safer through the summer
Vale of Glamorgan Council has partnered with community safety organisations for the return of the Vale's summer safety campaign.
Operation Elstree aims to deliver a collaborative approach to tackling crime, safety concerns and anti-social behaviour across the county's popular summer destinations, including Cosmeston Lakes, and Penarth Marina.
During the upcoming months, the Council will work with South Wales Police, RNLI, the Coastguard, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, the Vale's Alarm Receiving Centre, British Transport Police, Welsh Ambulance Service and Cardiff Council to plan for events, share intelligence, and review and coordinate responses to incidents.
Cllr Gwyn John, Cabinet member for Community Safety said: "The Council's Community Safety and Enforcement Teams works closely with other service areas to keep the Vale's residents, visitors, and businesses safe all year round.
"During the summer, the Vale's coast and open spaces attract large numbers, increasing the demand on community safety resources.
"In recent years, the partnership method of working has proven successful in tackling this demand and preventing anti-social behaviour and crime, ultimately keeping the community safe.
"I look forward to hearing about the successes of Operation Elstree 2023!"
