Local folk are being asked if they can help ensure the lifesaving stocks of the Welsh Blood Service are kept topped up.

Blood stocks in Wales are currently in a healthy position thanks to the ongoing support received from donors but there is never a time when the service can be complacent.

The service is asking all donors to maintain their current donation habits and respond to any invitations they may receive to book a donation. WelshBlood aims to have at least seven days of each blood type to help patients in need across Wales

A spokesperson said: "This helps us ensure we will continue to have the right amount of each blood type for patients across the country. If you've never given blood, now is a great time to try."

Sessions are currently planned to take place shortly in the region, and one will shortly take place in Llantwit Major. At the time of writing, just half the appointments had been booked up so any new or returning donors will be welcomed.

It only takes 45 minutes to help save a life, plus the service has a lovely selection of biscuits!

Appointments are still available, just click on the link below!!

Don't know your type? No problem, they'll do that bit for you when you donate!
