Hiraeth Kitchen planned for Llysworney

Chefs Lewis Dwyer and Andy Aston have launched a kickstarter campaign to raise funds to make their dream of opening their own restaurant a reality

The duo, who met through kitchens and a love of food, have earmarked the old Carne Arms pub in Llysworney as the site of their planned venture Hiraeth.

With £19,271 pledged out of a £30,000 target, there are just 10 days to support the campaign.

Backers can pre purchase a dining experience voucher through the campaign, to help fund the final leg of the journey.

On the kickstarter, founders Lewis and Andy say: "The ambition for having our own restaurant has been one that we have discussed and planned over countless hours of prep time and services in kitchens. COVID meant that as an industry we were forced to stop. This gave us time to think and we decided to stop dreaming and start doing. Hiraeth became a working goal rather than an ambition.

"We've found a perfect site that suits us and our style. We can only get so far alone, but we want to do this to the best of our ability and deliver the very best to our guests. We also do not want to start a business built on bank loans and credit cards. During these difficult times we don't believe this would be right for us. For this reason, we are asking for your help and support in this!

"Hiraeth is our vision of an unfussy, unpretentious dining experience that brings a smile! An atmosphere of enjoyment, great food, drink (we love wine & beer!) and overall, the noise of people enjoying themselves.

"The aim of our kickstarter is to, hopefully, get your help raising funds to make our dream a reality. We need help with final leg of this journey in the purchasing of a number of items. We will also be putting money into the kitchen area to create an environment fit for purpose.

"Having the cost of these purchases covered will allow us the privilege of being able to focus on providing an amazing experience and running a successful business, instead of being driven by the pressure of bank repayments. Even if you're not able to contribute, if you could just share our Kickstarter page with your family and friends we would be very grateful. The more people who know about this, the more chance we have of succeeding! "
