Managers from Bar 44 will be running the London Marathon to raise money for Faceup Cymru, a South-East Wales charity set up to support patients with head, neck and oral cancer.

Former Cowbridge Comprehensive pupils, brothers Rhys and Owen Alexander have been part of the Bar 44 team since they were 16 years old.

In February the permanent closure of Cowbridge's Bar 44 was announced, after only trading for 78 days in 2020 due to the pandemic, while the Penarth, Cardiff and Bristol venues continue.

"Myself and my brother Owen have decided now is the time to run the marathon after what can only be described as a marathon of a year with Covid and a broken knee for myself," said Rhys on the online fundraiser.

"This small charity is one we have picked out because the way they have treated our Nan (Vera Alexander) over the last few years suffering from cancer in the mouth and having endless operations and aftercare.

"We really want to give everything we can back to this wonderful charity and would love your help with this.

"Any support you can possibly give us would be a massive help."

So far, the brothers have raised £1,294.00. The London Marathon is due to take place on Sunday 3 October 2021.
