Forage Farm Shop & Kitchen on Penllyn Estate in Cowbridge has opened a new takeaway service.

Forage Away officially opened its doors this week after a soft launch on Saturday, April 30, catering to participants at the Mini Burn Adventure Race event.

Open six days a week, customers can pick up sweet treats or healthy on-the-go snacks and enjoy the peaceful setting.

Katherine Homfray, marketing director at Forage Farm Shop & Kitchen, told Cowbridge Nub News: "We've always had a big demand for a quick take-out offering with our lawn and outdoor space being very popular with a playground and beautiful views.

"We had our horsebox last summer, which was our takeaway offering, so it's just an expansion of that to make it more comfortable for our customers and to provide a better offering with more choice of drinks and food."

In addition to the usual hot drinks and snacks, the team have added a wider selection of options to the menu. "For Forage Away, we've added some delicious milkshakes and some smoothies – there's something for everyone and particularly people with a sweet tooth," said Katherine.

One of Forage Away's suppliers is Cardiff Dough and Co, a dessert business in Rumney which supplies doughnuts and cakes to the shop.

A La Marzocco coffee machine, which typically retails for anywhere between £6,000 to £19,000, has also been added.

Gluten-free and vegan options are available, as well as staples such as sausage rolls, scotch eggs, quiches, and sandwiches. Katherine added: "We're hoping to attract anyone from commuters to people who want to pop up and have a quick lunch.

"With the summer ahead, our lawn is a great place to go out and enjoy it and it gives a much better experience for our guests in the restaurant too, so people won't have to queue in there to get food and drink to go."

Forage Away is closed on Tuesdays, but the team are planning for the shop to be open seven days a week from June.

The opening comes after the Forage Farm Shop & Kitchen team were awarded the Welsh Farm Shop of the Year award at the Farm Shop & Deli Show last month.
