The Poppy Appeal collection site outside the Town Hall has had to close due to Coronavirus restrictions.

Though the Royal British Legion has suspended face-to-face collections for the Poppy Appeal across Wales, but there are still many ways you can support the cause in Cowbridge.

Mr David Howell, organiser of the Poppy Appeal in Cowbridge, said: "Thankfully a number of the retailers who remain open have agreed to distribute Poppy Appeal products for us, 2020 and VE75 lapel pins, plus traditional poppies are available throughout the town.

"Remembrance and services crosses are also available at Arthur John on the High Street."

If you would like to donate to the Poppy Appeal from home, donations can be made via the Royal British Legion website.

A small, socially-distanced Remembrance Sunday service will take place on November 8, Cowbridge Council revealed.

If you require a wreath, David Howell can be contacted on 01446 774306.

Lynne Woodyatt, the Community Fundraising Manager in Wales, said that the safety of supporters, volunteers and staff was "top priority":

"We encourage everyone to only undertake activity to support the Poppy Appeal which complies with the relevant government guidelines," said Lynne.

Fundraising can also be done through a virtual Poppy Run alone or with members of your household.

"You could choose to run, jog, walk take your dog however you want to complete your run to support the Poppy Appeal," said Lynne.

You can register to do your run here and everyone who registers will receive a downloadable fundraising pack. Anyone who raises over £100 will receive an exclusive medallion.
