Cowbridge (Ancient Borough) with Llanblethian Town Council is inviting everyone in the town to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee at a beacon lighting ceremony on June 2.

It will take place on the field by the Cowbridge Athletic Club with entertainment from the Cowbridge Rock Choir, Stage Door 1 and Stagecoach Theatre Arts.

Drinks will be served as well as an Indian buffet provided by Shampan and sweet treats from Fablas Ice Cream.

Gates will open at 19:00 and entry will be free.

The council would also love to hear from people who were born at the time of the Queen coming to the throne and would like to take part in the beacon lighting ceremony, particularly if you were born on:

February 6, 1952 – the date of the Queen's accession.

June 2, 1952 – exactly 70 years before the beacon lighting ceremony.

June 2, 1953 – the date of the coronation.

If you were born on any of these days, please contact Town Clerk either by phone at 01446 773385 or by email at [email protected]

On Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5, there will be several street parties in Cowbridge including a Jubilee party for Llanblethian residents on the Llanblethian Playing Fields.

Are you planning a street party or other celebration for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee? We would love to hear all about it. Send an email to [email protected]
