A primary school in South Wales that is running low on equipment for its children has been given a timely boost thanks to Persimmon Homes.

Pendoylan Church in Wales Primary School has received a £1,000 donation from Persimmon Homes East Wales as part of the builder's Community Champions Scheme.

Persimmon makes £64,000 a month available to fund local community initiatives across the UK.

Pendoylan School in Cowbridge has strong links with the local parish and community but fundraising over the last 12 months has become increasingly difficult due to the implications of the coronavirus pandemic.

Julia Deacon, of Pendoylan Church in Wales Primary School, said: "We can't thank Persimmon Homes enough for this £1,000 because it will go such a long way towards getting better equipment for our children.

"We usually try and raise funds through the Friends of Pendoylan and rely heavily on donations from parents, but this hasn't been easy recently.

"We're in much need of funds for sporting resources, computers and education equipment so this news couldn't have come at a better time for us."

Victoria Williams, sales director at Persimmon Homes East Wales, said: "We're delighted to be able to support local children through their crucial years of personal growth and educational development.

"The last year has been difficult for everyone so to help in this way is something that gives us great pleasure."

Persimmon is currently building at The Parish at Llanilltern Village, just five miles from Pendoylan. There is a collection of two, three and four-bedroom homes available.
