The by-election to elect a new Cowbridge Town Councillor for the Llanblethian East ward is being held today.

The polling station opened this morning and will close at 10pm tonight.

Beverly Tonkin and Owen Edwards are contesting the position. Both are Independent candidates.

Beverly said: "It is important the Town Council is run for the benefit of the community. It should support local businesses on the High Street to encourage a prosperous and lively hub to the benefit of Cowbridge and the surrounding villages.

"I would appreciate your vote so I can use my energies to help the Town Council run things for the benefit of all."

Owen said: "Residents across Llanblethian East have a choice between a fresh start or more of the same. A choice between action or self interests.

"Vote for me to deliver change in our community."

The winner will be annouced once all the postal and in-person votes have been counted.

The successful candidate will join the 14 other councillors on the Town Council.
