Senedd results: South Wales Central elects two Tories and two Plaid MSs

South Wales Central has elected two Tories and two Plaid Cymru Senedd Members.

The results were declared in the early afternoon on Saturday, May 8.

For the Conservatives, party leader Andrew RT Davies was re-elected as well as newcomer Joel James.

For Plaid, two new members joining the Senedd are Rhys ab Owen and Heledd Fychan.

Ms Fychan said: "The first thing I want to focus on is getting an independent inquiry into the 2020 floods, which devastated communities from the Vale of Glamorgan to the Cynon Valley."

Mr Owen said: "We increased our numbers and that's always a positive thing, we had some great results in seats across Wales, so I think Plaid has done well in very difficult circumstances.

"My priority would be to try and establish a national care service, help those suffering from illnesses such as Alzheimer's and their carers; justice is also very close to my heart; and to try and tackle child poverty which hasn't happened up to now during devolution."

Mr Davies and Mr James were not at the election count in Barry.
