Organisers of yesterday's Vale of Glamorgan Agricultural Show in Cowbridge have issued an apology for the significant traffic delays.

The show, which returned to Penllyn from Fonmon Castle, was expecting an estimated 15,000 – 20,000 visitors this year.

But many visitors were left waiting in heavy traffic for two hours or more to get in, and some even made the decision to leave the long queues and head home.

Some of the show's visitors and people who attempted entry have expressed their disappointment on Facebook, with one commenting: "We also had to give up after two hours and being told by the guy on the turning it would be another one to one-and-a-half hours from there!

"Have emailed to request a refund and included my ticket email. First year I've bought tickets in advance too. I won't make that mistake again!"

Another added: "I hope refunds will be given to people who had to turn back because of the chaos.

"After queuing for over two hours with two young children in a boiling hot car, we had to turn around. We pre-paid £35 for tickets as requested to make entrance easier. What a shambles."

A statement posted on the show's Facebook page said: "We very much regret the traffic delays that occurred yesterday on show day.

"The Vale Show followed an approved traffic management plan as agreed by the Vale of Glamorgan Council Highway department and by the Cone Masters Traffic management company.

"The whole traffic management plan is currently under review for next year's show which will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2023."

Cowbridge Nub News has contacted the Vale of Glamorgan Council for comment.
