Andrew RT Davies MS has welcomed back the Vale of Glamorgan Agricultural Show as it returned for the first time in three years since the pandemic.

The show was held on Wednesday, August 10 in Cowbridge and it is thought an estimated 15,000 – 20,000 were in attendance.

Speaking at the show, Mr Davies said: "The Vale Show is one of my favourite days in the calendar, and I know I speak for people across the Vale when I say it was sorely missed during the pandemic.

"It's fantastic to be back, enjoying the weather, catching up with friends, and seeing the best of the Vale on display, from the fantastic produce, the livestock, the farming gear and the events in the ring.

"With the pressures we're seeing on food supply, our agricultural communities are stepping up to the challenge and ensuring there's food on tables across the nation.

"As we pack away our stalls and head home, and the countdown to next year's show begins, there's so much to feel proud of about this show and our communities."

Alun Cairns MP was also at the show and wrote this column for Cowbridge Nub News yesterday (August 11). But traffic management was a major cause of concern for visitors. Some waited for more than two hours to be admitted, while others had to turn around and head home.

Show organisers issued an apology on their Facebook page and promised the traffic management plan is under review for next year's show on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.
