The Vale of Glamorgan has the second lowest Covid-19 case rate in the whole of the United Kingdom, according to data up to 7 June.

The figures, which include cases per 100,000 over a seven-day period up to 2 June show the county case rate is at 1.5, whilst Mendip has the lowest Covid-19 case rate at 0.9 cases.

Yesterday, the latest coronavirus figures from Public Health Wales showed no new coronavirus cases in the Vale, with two confirmed in the last seven days.

This comes as First Minister Mark Drakeford confirmed in a press conference yesterday that all over 18s in Wales will receive their first dose Covid-19 vaccination by Monday 14 June, six weeks ahead of the target set out at the start of the vaccine programme.

In the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board area, 346,669 have received their first vaccination.
