Improvements to Cowbridge walking and cycling routes: have your say

THE VALE of Glamorgan Council is consulting Cowbridge residents on how walking and cycling routes in the area can be improved.

The council aims to make 'active travel', walking and cycling, the choice of travel for local journeys.

This would cut down unnecessary traffic, help families travel safely, improve air quality and make the town more attractive, says the council.

The project focuses on eight towns in the Vale of Glamorgan - Barry, Penarth, Rhoose, Llantwit Major, St Athan, Sully, Cowbridge and Dinas Powys.

"Our main focus is to improve areas where there is the greatest need for change and highest potential for more people to choose active travel," said the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

"The locations were chosen because they are where facilities are that people travel short distances to regularly - schools, leisure centres, employment sites, local shopping districts and transport interchanges.

"Think about the local journeys you make and tell us where the problem areas are. On the school run, is there a junction which is really difficult to cross as a pedestrian and so you avoid it?

"Do you know where a dropped kerb is needed on your way to work, or where there's a missing section of cycle route which would mean you would use your bike more?

"Give us the details - if other people agree they'll be able to show this and we will build up a picture of where the priority areas for improvements are."

Residents can enter as many issues as they like through this website .

In 2021, the council will review the feedback and share proposals created as a result of the consultation.
