The Mayor and Mayoress of Cowbridge with Llanblethian were delighted to welcome Y Bont Faen Primary School Choir to their coffee and drop-in morning on Saturday, 1 April in Cowbridge Town Hall.

Mayor Cllr John Andrew said: "It was a particular delight and honour since, as their Choir Master Eifion Davies explained, it was their first public performance."

"The Choir sang a variety of songs from all over the world and, for some, invited audience participation.

The Choir received warm applause from the appreciative audience. It was a wonderful way to start April and Easter week.

Following the Choir's performance the raffle was drawn with a good few members of the Choir winning prizes including Easter eggs.

Thanks to the generosity of those present £193.85 was raised for the Mayor's charities, Barnardo's and Atal-y-Fro.

The Mayor took the opportunity to remind everyone of the upcoming Coronation events planned for Cowbridge.

On the evening of Friday, 5 May the Mayor's Charity Coronation Dinner Dance in the St Quentin's Suite of the Bear Hotel. Places are still available.

Starting at 11:30 am on Sunday, 7 May the Aberthin Tractor Boys will be leading a Parade starting at Fire Station and ending at the Leisure Centre.

The intention is that they will be followed by children and adults dressed as kings and queens and other Coronation themed costumes. All are invited to take part.

The Parade will be followed by a Community Picnic and Party on the Bear Field. There will be a stage with a variety of performances.

This will be free and open to all.

The Coronation will be on Saturday 6 May so the Mayor will give way to the King and there will be no Coffee and Drop-in morning that day.

Cllr Andrew explained that this meant that the April Coffee and Drop-in morning will be his last but was pleased to announce that the next Mayor intends to continue the tradition.

He took the opportunity to thank everybody who has supported the events and particularly those who have helped each Saturday including his biggest thank you to Anna his wife and the Mayoress "without whom he most certainly could not have run the coffee mornings."
